Q. How do you describe your teaching style?
Violetta Kurkurina is a pianist and teacher with extensive training in both performance and pedagogy. She began her musical studies in Ukraine, completing a four-year Diploma in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at Mariupol College of Arts, followed by a Bachelor of Arts at Mariupol State University. After moving to Canada, she earned her Bachelor of Music at Queen’s University in Kingston and is now pursuing her Master’s degree in Piano Performance and Pedagogy at the University of Toronto.
As a performer, Violetta has appeared as a soloist, collaborator, and chamber musician.
She has performed with the Queen’s Symphony Orchestra and Orchestra Kingston, as well as at summer programs including Orford Music Academy, Tuckamore Chamber Music Festival, Scotia Festival of Music, and the Ukrainian Art Song Summer Institute. Her artistry reflects both her European musical roots and her commitment to exploring diverse styles and traditions.
Alongside her performance career, Violetta has over three four of teaching experience, working with students of all ages and levels as a piano instructor. She is passionate about guiding each student to develop solid technical skills, musical expression, and confidence, while fostering creativity and a lifelong love of music.
