Q. What do you love about teaching music?
“I love teaching music because I enjoy introducing students to new musical styles as well as getting to know my student's musical interests, helping them learn songs that they love, and watching them develop confidence in their musical abilities.”
Maggie is a pianist, composer, and educator. She holds a Bachelor of Music from Humber College, where she specialized in jazz piano, and a Master of Music in Composition from York University. Maggie also earned her ARCT in Piano Performance with First Class Honours through the Royal Conservatory of Music and has extensive experience teaching students of all ages and skill levels.
Maggie believes that music education should foster both technical ability and creative expression. Her lessons incorporate technique, theory, ear training, improvisation, and musicianship while being tailored to each student's individual interests and goals. She is passionate about creating a positive, encouraging environment where students feel comfortable taking risks, building confidence, and discovering their own musical voice.
As both a performer and composer, Maggie enjoys working across a variety of musical styles, including classical, jazz, pop, and R&B. She leads and collaborates on a variety of projects within Toronto's vibrant music scene and continues to perform as both a bandleader and side musician while sharing her passion for music through teaching.
