Alison

Piano & Voice

Q. What do you love about teaching music?

“I love helping students to develop a solid understanding of the basics, and watching them become more independent as they continue to practice and learn new skills.”

Alison is a music teacher and performer with over 15 years experience. She has seen many of her voice and piano students through from early childhood to high school graduation, and her priority in teaching is to help students develop their personal creativity and establish a life-long love of music, through a mix of technical instruction and encouragement of self expression.

Alison has successfully prepared many students for entry auditions to high school and college musical theatre programs, and additionally specializes in working with students with ADHD, ASD, and dyslexia.

Alison is a classically trained lyric soprano who studied voice with Roxolana Roslak at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Toronto, and currently studies privately with soprano Norma Burrowes.

You can find Alison performing regularly at venues like Roy Thompson Hall, Koerner Hall and the Meridian Centre for the Arts with the Toronto Mendelssohn Choir, and at other various chamber choir concerts, and music and theatre performances throughout the city. She is also a trained actor and physical theatre performer, having studied theatre at the University of Toronto, the Second City Conservatory Toronto, and Ecole Philippe Gaulier in Paris, and having lived and performed in Europe and the UK for a number of years.
