Q. What do you like most about teaching?

I love igniting a love for music in a student. Music has had the biggest positive impact on my life, and it brings me so much joy to be able to introduce others to this amazing force. Music has the ability to connect, inspire and bring the best out of people. I’ve seen firsthand how transformative it can be, and I love seeing a student's personality shine as their confidence grows!

Music has always been the driving force in Mikayla’s life, and her greatest source of joy. She began training as a vocalist at eight years old and her love for learning and growing as a musician gets stronger each day. Competing in various competitions and festivals from a young age, Mikayla has performed across the province, consistently placing in the Kiwanis Music Festival both in her hometown of Windsor, Ontario and at the provincial level.

Mikayla has trained in various genres including classical, jazz and pop, but her true love is musical theatre. She recently graduated with distinction from Queen’s University and St. Lawrence College’s Bachelor of Music Theatre program. Mikayla has performed in many musicals and stage productions, her favourite roles including Ruth in The Pirates of Penzance (Dan School Major, Queens University), Estelle in Drama 101 (SLC Stage) and Mercutio in The R+J Project (St. Lawrence College).

Mikayla began teaching vocal and piano lessons while she was in high school. She leads with patience, joy and an emphasis on connecting with her students. Mikayla is humbled and honoured to be sharing her knowledge and love of music with others.
