Maggie Maloney

Piano

Q. What do you love about teaching music?

“I love teaching music because I enjoy introducing students to new musical styles as well as getting to know my student's musical interests, helping them learn songs that they love, and watching them develop confidence in their musical abilities.”

Maggie Maloney is a 2nd year piano student of the Bachelor of Music program at Humber College. Though she is now focusing on jazz music, she started classical piano at the age of 5 with the Royal Conservatory of Music and completed her ARCT in piano performance with First Class Honours in 2016. She has won numerous awards competing at various music festivals while playing classical music and has most recently received the Marilyn E. Scott Memorial Award for her musical achievements in her first year of the Bachelor of Music program. Maggie has enjoyed performing classical, jazz, pop, and R&B music as a soloist and band member in different cities across Canada. She enjoys teaching many different styles of music to students of all ages. Maggie is dedicated to creating a positive learning environment where students feel comfortable to take risks, make mistakes, and grow from their experiences. Her goal is to inspire her students to develop self-discipline, explore their creativity, and find enjoyment in playing music.
